I was invited to visit campus and get familiar with company environment. When I got there I was invited to interview with one of the Engineering Directors. I was told that position they looking to fill is a manager in their core group. The position I told don't require technical knowledge and more about project management skills and lead the team. Next day I got invited to take a technical online test. I was surprised to see it, since it was clearly indicated during phone screening and 1:1 interview that they are looking for managers not developers. I put my best effort into it, but definitely didn't answer all of the questions as seasoned developer would. After test review by their engineering team, I was told that it was not a good fit.
The whole interview process seems very ad hock, where recruiter has no knowledge what hiring manager wants and vice versa. Upset that time was wasted. I would not go through the process if they were looking for developer in a first place.
