My recent interview experience with Pure Storage for an Enterprise Sales Engineer role was a mixed bag. The initial contact from the recruiter was prompt and professional, but they immediately raised a concern about my location being outside the designated territory. Despite this, I was encouraged to proceed with a conversation with the hiring manager.
The interview with the hiring manager was engaging and informative, and I received positive feedback regarding my qualifications. We specifically addressed the location concern, and I was reassured it wouldn't be an issue. Based on this conversation, I was under the impression that I would be moving forward in the interview process.
However, communication after this point became less clear. There was a delay in receiving feedback, and ultimately, I was informed that I would not be advancing to the next round, with no further explanation provided. When I followed up with the recruiter and referenced the hiring manager's earlier statement, I was told I had misunderstood.
While my overall experience was disappointing, particularly given the positive recommendation I received from a high-performing current employee, I appreciate the initial opportunity to connect with the Pure Storage team.
