      Project Manager Interview

      Oct 13, 2018
      Anonymous Interview Candidate
      Seattle, WA
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Easy interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at Expeditors (Seattle, WA) in Sep 2018

      Interview

Applied online and received a very quick email response from a member of the hiring team with a planner for a phone interview that next week. During that phone call, the interviewer was pleasant and described the role, but really wanted to be clear about what Expeditors was like as a company. The focus was on how the company has a strict business professional dress code at all times with no casual Fridays. It was also mentioned that no working from home was allowed. The interviewer wanted me to understand that the company's culture is not like most other companies in Seattle. They reached out about a week after that first phone interview wanting a second phone interview with the hiring manager. The hiring manager stood me up for that phone call. After 2 weeks and a handful of unanswered calls and an email, I got an apology from the hiring manager saying it was a double booking error. Second interview was rescheduled and they stood me up again. I called, no answer, left voicemails, but I never heard from them again. Two weeks later I received a rejection email that had typos and was worded strangely. The whole process felt disorganized and rude. Standing an applicant up twice crosses into rude territory.

      Interview

10 quick questions not entirely difficult but they put me on the spot a few times. Next time I would have liked to be more prepared but they caught me off guard

      Negative experience

      Application

I applied in-person. The process took 3 months. I interviewed at Expeditors (Seattle, WA)

      Interview

The interview process was completely convoluted. In the time I applied and completed two interviews and waited on the final decision (still waiting) I applied, interviewed, completed an extensive background check, and accepted an offer from a Fortune 100 in the area. This company has antiquated views on talent management that caused me to waste my time. Their lengthy process was only tolerable because I had another offer from another company. Furthermore, their IT infrastructure is still in the Jurassic period. They asked me to build a roadmap and bring it to the interview. Then proceeded to not have a way to view it. Super JV and a waste of my time. Hands down though I don't respect people without integrity and multiple times they missed their own deadlines in the hiring process, which caused me to do two separate interviews where they asked the same questions. In a decent job market, apply elsewhere. You deserve better than wearing suits to work and working on antiquated project (who is still building data centers?!).
