I applied through a recruiter. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Exponent in Jun 2009
Interview
I was contacted by a recruiter and asked to submit my CV. In that first interview, I was given a general overview of how the company worked and the interview process. I was also asked to discuss my research, thesis, and interests, but wasn't given any extremely difficult questions. The next phase of the interview was supposed to be an informal meeting prior to my formal interview. While I was led to believe it would be an information gathering opportunity for me, I was grilled on my research and the tone was hostile at times. The hostile tone made it difficult to perform, but maybe was that way since a part of the job involves dealing with hostile attorneys in court and depositions.
There were 3 interviews in total. 2 informal interviews for ~45 min each, and 1 formal interview for ~5 hours with 5-6 interviewers and 45 min research presentation plus 15 min question.
