I applied in-person. The process took 1 day. I interviewed at Express (Amherst, NY) in Oct 2008
Interview
Brought my application into the store, and the hiring manager scheduled me an interview. I then interviewed with the Store Manager 3 days later. The interview was outside in the mall. The interview consisted of behavioral questions and what you know about fashion and the latest trends you see in the store. I was then offered a job on the spot, but told the Manager I would think about it. I then negotiated my wage based on prior experience I have. After I accepted, I was scheduled for orientation which was a week later.

Applied online, interviewed in person the next day. Interview was basically a vibe check. More important to apply during peak season (early spring or early fall) when they're hiring the most. Make sure you have availability on the weekend.
Easy and straight forward interview. They ask for your availability and if have fashion experience. Also, asks about previous sales and customer service experience. The job itself is not hard at all.
