I applied through college or university. The process took 2 days. I interviewed at Extron Electronics (Anaheim, CA) in Feb 2010
Interview
There were two days of interviews in total. On the first day, they explained to me what the job would entail me doing. They explained that I would be expected to answer calls from clients and would be required to assist them in troubleshooting. It was explained that the engineers typically start out in this role and then after a few years progress to a different role if they so desire. I was also asked questions that test my skills on two topics: C programming and TCP/IP. For TCP/IP, the manager displayed a typical problem that one might face and asked me how I would solve it. For C programming, he showed me a snippet of code and asked me what it does. Then, after a few weeks I was called back and another manager interviewed me who seemed to be the one who I would directly report to. This manager mainly asked behavioral questions such as where do I see my self in 5 years and how I view the position that I was interviewing for. After that, I was passed on to an HR person who asked more behavioral questions and asked for salary expectations. A few weeks after that, I got a letter saying that they weren't going to extend an offer. Overall, this was a good experience for me as it was my first time going through the interview process with any company.
