I applied online. The process took 3 weeks. I interviewed at Farmers Insurance Group in Dec 2011
Interview
As an internal candidate I had the advantage of looking up the hiring manager's name and was able to call them directly. But when my phone call and email weren't returned, I applied directly through the website--just like any other candidate. Within a week or two, I receieved a request for an interview. The initial phone interview was with two other managers and was pretty standard (describe a time you had to work with resources that didn't report directly to you, describe a time when a project you managed didn't go as planned, etc.) After that round I was invited to interview in-person with the hiring manager and the Underwriting Director. That was also very standard, but did give them some insight into how I reacted to situations, and we were both able to see if I was a good fit for the team.
