The process took 3 weeks. I interviewed at Farmers Insurance Group (Wilmington, DE)
Interview
Initial phone interview with the recruiter went well. The lady was very nice and pleasant to speak with. My next interview was an in person interview with the department manager and two additionap managers over the phone. I felt very comfortable with the on site manager and thought we would work well together. The male manager on the phone seemed to be more interested in telling me what I don't have rather than talking about what I do have. The female manager on the phone said absolutely nothing. Even though I have over 15 years of customer service experience, along with an extensive background in application development/programming, my "lack of having a previous IT title" was most likely the reason I was unable to obtain this entry level support position. My overall experience went well and I'm grateful to have had the opportunity to interview. I'm a bit saddened I did not receive an offer because I really liked the office location and the manager. However, being a career changer currently enrolled in a computer science program with an extensive amount of advanced programming skills and years of customer service was not sufficient enough. The manager even mentioned that I have to get a professional start somewhere...unfortunately, he did not want to be that guy.
