My initial contact was with recruiting which was very pleasant and energizing. The following week I had my interview with the Buying team via Zoom. The group of women were extremely snobby, it almost felt like they were jealous of my resume experience, which felt weird. They spent more time picking apart my resume than actually seeing how all that experience I have would benefit Fashion Nova as a whole. They clearly studied Meryl Streep in The Devil Wears Prada and assumes this is the way people in the fashion industry behave. The energy of that room is not aligned with Fashion Nova’s key market….and that’s disappointing. I walked away from the interview feeling like, I can totally use my talents and skills with a brand who deserves it. I immediately contacted HR and removed myself from the interview process. Their loss and I look forward to being an addition to a far better company.

Messy and time-consuming interview process. I went through three rounds of interviews. Because of covid-19, the first two were conducted via Zoom and the last was in-person at Fashion Nova HQ. The first interview was a mix of behavioral and technical questions so definitely prepare. In the second round, they assigned me a trend forecasting project where I had to create a trend board about styles/colors/fabrics I would pick for upcoming seasons. I then presented it (via Zoom) to someone in management on the buying team. The third round was where it got messy. Throughout the process, the recruiter was fairly informative about who I'd be meeting and what the scope of the interview will be like. The third went nothing like what HR said. I ended up being met by a panel and they asked me to present my assignment again. One of those people on the panel was one I spoke to. All of it felt repetitive and too much of a process for this type of role. At the end I asked two questions about their buying processes and they REFUSED to answer because its a "private company". How is a candidate supposed to get an idea of the workplace processes if management is already secretive? I also asked what their training process was like and they simply said, "There is none". Based on those answers, I didn't get the impression that this is a company I'd like to work for.
