Fastly Commercial Account Executive interview questions

Met with an internal recruiter, who seemed like a great person. During the interview, she begins to fumble questions, clearly reading a transcript versus understanding what she's asking. After a few questions, she sympathizes and apologizes saying these are the questions the hiring manager wanted her to ask and she just wasn't used to them. She tells me I'm a good fit though. Moves me to the next round. The hiring manager seemed like a good person also. This interview went significantly smoother although he asked me to ask any questions in the front end which honestly might have derailed the interview cause I have tons of questions I can ask and he didn't have short answers. After 4 questions I point out I don't want to high-jack the interview, we laugh he points out he likes the fact I ask great questions it shows skills for an AE (discovery questions). He asks me a few questions. Time begins to run out and he tells me what the next steps are; says I'm one of the first interviews and has another dozen or so to get through this week. Mentioned I will hear back by early next week. He even gives me his email address and suggests I email him if I have additional questions and even goes as far as saying and likewise I'm sure you have a lot of opportunities if you hear back from any please let us know. Not even 1 hour later I get an email saying they've picked someone else. How you interview a "dozen" people in 30-45 minutes is insane, leading me on seemed pointless. The whole thing made me feel like they had very few candidates. Wanted to make it seem like there was a ton of competition for the role when there definitely wasn't, and someone outperformed me (which is fine) but don't suggest you have a dozen interviews if you don't.
