I applied online and was contacted by a recruiter who set up rounds of technical interviews conducted via video chat.
The first round of interviews were back in the late spring/early summer. I had two interviews. After the interviews I sent the usual 'thank you'
follow up emails. And then I never heard back from the recruiter for weeks, not even an acknowledgment. Just complete silence.
Then out of nowhere I received an email from the recruiter asking if I would like to schedule an onsite since the technical interviews had gone well. I was asked to provide availability for travel and my travel details. A date was then agreed upon for me to go out to San Francisco for an onsite round of interviews
.
I then waited for travel confirmation and my travel itinerary from the recruiter but received no communication. As the agreed upon date for the onsite began getting closer I proactively reached out to the recruiter mentioning I hadn't yet received any travel confirmation or itinerary from them. But once again the recuriter "ghosted" me.
I was left wondering what was going on. Weeks passed and the agreed upon date for my onsite came and went. Finally I received an email saying "the process has been put on hold but should be resolved shortly. " There was no apology even any acknowledgment of his complete lack of communication.
Then months later in August I received an email from this same recruiter saying he would like to pick up my interviews where we left off and inquired f I was still interested. I said "yes" and then he proceeded to ignore more for a few weeks more I received no further communication from him.
Eventually he sent me an email scheduling another yet another phone interview again not acknowledging his lack of responsiveness. So I had another technical screen with another engineer and that phone interview also went well. And again there was no response or even acknowledgement from him following this.
Weeks more of silence pass when recruiter's expediter emails me saying "Good News", that the feedback has again been positive and this person proceeds to set up a new onsite in San Francisco(we are now in November.) This second recruiter again asks for my travel details and a date is agreed upon for me to visit the San Francisco office for a day of onsite interviews.
Hours later the recruiters the one who has repeatedly disrespected me and my time emails me and says "we have decided to pursue other candidates" and I would now not coming to San Francisco.
You can not make this stuff up.! This level of unprofessionalism and complete disrespect for people and their time is mind boggling. It saddens me to write this because all of the technical people I spoke with seemed top notch both professionally and personally. I do have to wonder though how a company could be completely unaware of how incompetent and awful their recruiters are though. How is this even allowed this to go on?
I generally don't write reviews except under exceptional circumstances like this. I think I would be doing everyone a disservice both potential candidates and the company if I didn't write this.
