I initially had an interview with a recruiter and then interviewed with the hiring manager. I really enjoyed our conversation and I felt like my skills aligned with what she wanted. She mentioned not wanting to interview people just for the sake of interviewing and immediately recommended me for The next round. I then interviewed with the VP who was sick and under the weather but we were able to have some good conversations. She and I deeply discussed the position. I waited less than a week and heard back that they wanted to fly me out to California from South Carolina just a few short days later for in person interviews. By this point i was very excited about the position. The night before I arrived in San Fran at 1am, and my Interviews started at 9:30-12 so it was a quick turnaround. I met with five more people for 30 mins each. I felt like all the conversations went well and the marketing person was a great interview. My background felt right and I honestly thought it was a great fit for me and vice versa. I flew out at 2pm same day and by the time I arrived home I received notice they wanted me to do the writing sample, which was the final step. At this point, I felt very confident Bc writing was my forte. I submitted it after working hard. There was very little instruction or background I'm sure by design. About five days later I heard that I did Not get the job. There was no explanation and I was very shocked. I was very disappointed, as I felt like it had been a long process and I was very excited after each phase. I still don't know why I received a rejection but I will say the process was professional, the recruiters were good communicators, the interviewers were all on time and prepared, so it was a positive experience minus the outcome. It's just a long way to go physically and mentally for it to not work out, which is disappointing. But they seem like a great company and the experience was overall positive and professional.
