The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at Figma in Jun 2024

      Interview

The process began with an initial phone screening which focused on discussing my background, skills, and motivations. However, two issues raised concerns early on. First, it was mentioned that although the role was open to candidates from both the UK and Ireland, there was a preference for Irish candidates simply because the team was based there. This felt like a potential bias. Second, when I asked for the salary range, they refused to disclose it, insisting instead that I share my salary expectations to see if they aligned with their budget. When I pressed further, it was explained that the range would depend on the candidate's experience, which left me with the impression that they might be trying to hire someone at the lowest possible cost. The next stage was a panel interview with three members of the US-based team. The interview covered both technical and behavioral aspects, with questions ranging from my expertise in specific areas to how I handle pressure, resolve conflicts, and contribute to team projects. Each interview lasted 30 minutes, which, in my opinion, wasn’t enough time to have a thorough discussion given the volume of questions I was asked. The final round took a more high-level, strategic approach, though it also touched on some technical aspects of the role. I was asked detailed questions about my workflow in NetSuite, but my responses didn’t seem to satisfy the interviewer, as they frequently interrupted with follow-up questions. This made it difficult for me to fully explain my approach. The tone of the questioning felt less like a professional dialogue and more like an interrogation, which was unsettling. Overall, it was an unpleasant interview experience. They were quiet during key stages, leaving me to wonder if I was being ghosted. While I appreciated the feedback provided between the stages, when I shared my final thoughts on the process, it was implied that I was changing my story about my initial impressions, which felt dismissive. Additionally, the company's reluctance to share compensation details and the request to sign NDAs further reinforced the impression of a shady employer using questionable tactics.
