      Marketing Operations Manager Interview

      Difficult interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 8 weeks. I interviewed at Figma (Paris) in Jan 2025

      Interview

Well-Structured but Lengthy Process: I applied online and was contacted by a recruiter shortly after. The scheduling and follow-up communication were excellent. I appreciated the smooth and well-organized booking experience. After meeting with the hiring manager, I progressed quickly through multiple interview stages. I remained flexible with scheduling (early mornings, late evenings) to accommodate stakeholders in different time zones, as I was genuinely enthusiastic about learning more about Figma. However, near the final round, just before the take-home assignment, I was informed that the reporting structure had changed from what was initially advertised. The role would now report to a central function, requiring an additional interview step. At this point, I had already completed five interviews (not counting the take-home assignment). While I understand that organizations evolve and the restructuring likely made strategic sense, it was frustrating as an applicant who had already invested significant time and effort. Still, I remained committed to the process, completing the take-home assignment within three days, after which I received only positive feedback during my panel interview (I used all figma products, except for the dev-mode). The final (additional) step involved meeting with two stakeholders from the central global team, including the role's skip-level manager. The questions in this interview seemed to assess for more senior experience than what was originally described in the job posting—experience I do possess and I believed I provided clear answers. After completing all steps, I followed up about my status and was informed that they had decided to move forward with candidates who were a "better fit for the role". * Final Thoughts: Figma's interview process is well-structured, professional and thorough, but the shifting expectations and extended process made it more time-consuming than expected. Candidates should be prepared for potential structural changes mid-process and ensure alignment on role expectations before investing significant time.
