I applied through a recruiter. The process took 3 days. I interviewed at Firestone Complete Auto Care (Raleigh, NC) in Sep 2012
Interview
Firestone called me from one of the many job sites posted on-line. They were interested in my military background. On the phone, they offered a starting pay of $18/hour. Upon arriving to the interview and answering basic questions about my knowledge of cars, they offered me an outstanding $12/hour. They went on to tell me that working 65+ hours per week at $12/hour would be a huge financial benefit. I declined the job, because they are looking for people who turn wrenches instead living an actual life with their families. At 65+ hours per work week, you are working the same as owning your own business.
The store manager is nice and gentle! Have a great conversation and show me the store. After that, talk about the salary pay and what benefits they provide. At last, get an offer after several days.

I applied in-person. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Firestone Complete Auto Care (Plano, TX)
Interview
20 minute interview talking about your experience about all the things you know how to do mechanically and the manager explains to you the working hours and gives you a brief description of your own position and what is expected of you as a team. Then after the interview is over, the manager tells you when you will be taking a drug test and when the background check clears. That is about all that happens during the interview.
