Started off OK and then got brutal. First interview was a phone interview with a recruiter and it went really well. A video interview was scheduled with the hiring manager and their boss. This interview was an hour long and went pretty well. I was then contacted to go into the office for an in person interview with the hiring manager (again), their boss (again) and a peer of the hiring manager from another group. When I arrived, the first thing the manager I had not met before said to me was a comment about how I was dressed for the interview. It was meant to be a compliment but it was unnecessary and unprofessional. For the next hour, the hiring manager LITERALLY did not ask me a single question. The senior leader asked 4-5 questions and the third person grilled me with questions that felt more accusatory and like an interrogation than an interview. Questions unrelated to the actual responsibilities one will have in the role. After the hour came up, the senior manager and other manager apologized to the hiring manager for not letting them ask any questions. I said I could stick around longer to answer additional questions. The hiring manager said they would like to chat but the other two had meetings/calls to attend and they left. I sat for about 30-35 minutes with the hiring manager and had a really good conversation with her. They seem to like me and asked me questions that lead me to believe they would like to move forward with me but I am still waiting to hear back. I have never left an interview feeling the way I did. I was legitimately drained from the rapid fire questions from the unrelated, non-hiring manager.
