      Interview

Friendly , exploratory discussion of my professional history and experience. Nothing difficult or unpleasant. Ultimately the domain was not as expected and not within my realm of experience therefore i did not proceed to the next round.

      Application

I applied through other source. I interviewed at FitXR in Sep 2024

      Interview

After being called in for the final round, which was framed as a "trial day," I spent 3 hours deeply engaging with the project—analyzing data, testing the product, and speaking with different team members to ensure a thorough understanding of the problem. After 3 hours, I requested a check-in with the CEO to make sure I was on the right track. But before I even had the chance to explain my approach or share my insights, the CEO abruptly told me I wouldn’t be continuing in the process. His reason? Apparently, I wasn’t a good fit because I hadn’t been communicating my every move to the broader team Slack channel, which I wasn't even given a clear direction to do so. He genuinely expected that in the first 3 hours of trying to familiarize myself with an ambiguous problem, I should have been constantly messaging the entire team about every tiny step. The experience was honestly horrible and traumatic. The CEO's behavior was completely unprofessional, bordering on erratic and controlling—more concerned with micromanaging and imposing unrealistic expectations, especially on someone's first day, or to say the least, in the first few hours, than fostering an environment of real collaboration and thoughtful problem-solving.

Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback. The trial day is a new part of our hiring process. Our goal is to ensure that while the process is efficient, it also provides a positive candidate experience. We do sometimes decide to end the trial day early if we determine that a candidate is unlikely to be a strong fit for our ways of working, as we want to be respectful of the candidate's time. Communication is one of many skills and traits we evaluate in our trial days, as it is an important skill to have at FitXR, especially since we work fully remotely. We will add your feedback to other feedback we’ve gathered about the process to improve how we structure trial days, focusing on clearer direction and better support throughout the process. Thank you again for sharing your perspective, as it will help us improve our approach. If you’d like to discuss your experience further, please don’t hesitate to reach out to sami.maiden@fitxr.com

      Application

I applied through a recruiter. The process took 6 weeks. I interviewed at FitXR in Jul 2021

      Interview

Weeks and weeks of interviews and a task and barely any response after each round (at least a week between each email reply…). It’s a shame the mission sounded great but the interview process made me feel less than valued, like my time was at their disposal. Interviews go both ways. I found it strange and even concerning that meeting peers was not part of the interview process.

      Question 1

How would you manage a situation where an Engineer is difficult and doesn’t want to work on what you’ve prioritised?
