The interview started out normal enough. I was phone screened by the recruiter and then was setup with 2 separate interviews/codepen coding challenges. The coding challenge interviews are where it became a negative experience.
Both of the people screening me were not senior developers. One was pretty fresh out of college and the other was still a junior/regular developer as well. Why are pretty fresh developers in charge of interviewing, especially senior level candidates?
Despite being junior, the first phone screen went okay enough and had an interesting challenge. However, the second interviewer was very pretentious. She had absolutely no interest in learning about my background. She was more focused on giving her esoteric coding challenge than anything. Unless you had very intimate knowledge of internal Javascript behavior, most people would not know how to do the challenge she gave. She ended up giving me another challenge. However, that one again was poorly thought out as it could be solved very easily without optimization. When I was finished, she asked if I had any questions for her. She did not seem interested at all in answering any of my questions as she gave very short answers.
Overall, seems like I dodged a bullet if the attitude of this one interviewer is anything to go by.
