      Recruiter Interview

      Jun 13, 2016
      Anonymous employee
      New York, NY
      Accepted offer
      Positive experience
      Difficult interview

      Application

I applied through a recruiter. The process took 3 weeks. I interviewed at Flatiron Health (New York, NY) in Apr 2016

      Interview

The recruiter connected with me via LinkedIn and after an initial conversation I learned about the company, its values and what they were looking for in a recruiter. I also had the opportunity to share my background and experiences. Shortly after that, I was invited for an onsite first round interview. I met with the recruiter and one other person. The first interview was very positive and that is when I became sold on the company value and cultures. Afterwards, I was invited for a final round interview about a week later. During this time period, the recruiter was a tremendous resource and always made herself available for questions. This is what stood out to me the most. During the final onsite interview, I met the candidate lead proper and he made an incredibly positive impression and made me feel welcome. The four interviews (2 on 1 - with the exception of one) were all different and unique. I met other recruiters and also engineers. It was a very challenging and rewarding interview, and with each conversation, the people, culture and mission were clear highlights of the firm.

      Difficult interview

      Application

I applied online. I interviewed at Flatiron Health

      Interview

Interviewed via skype and was probably the most difficult recruiting interview I've ever had. The person I spoke to asked very specific questions ranging from recruiting process (reasonable question) to who I felt were Flatiron's main competitors in the area (How would I know that before working for them?). Interview was long and there were many difficult questions that went beyond actually recruiting expertise. Unsurprisingly, I did not receive a followup but I doubt it is would be a team I would want to work on regardless.

      Interview

      - 2:2 interviews with folks throughout Recruitment/People Ops and Engineering - probably one of the least humane interviews I've ever been on - each pair of interviewers waltzed in with their Macbooks and proceeded to type away whenever I answered a question, rarely making eye contact throughout the process. Came across as cold and calculated. - pretentious - they love to throw around the fact that they were backed by Google Ventures and to talk about their involvement with Roche. Consensus - the mission behind Flatiron Health is wonderfully altruistic. I've met people that worked there in the past across Engineering and Data Science who clearly embodied that mission who were kind and thoughtful. Hoping that my experience was just with a few bad apples lacking EQ.

      Positive experience
      Difficult interview

      Application

I applied online. I interviewed at Flatiron Health (New York, NY) in Sep 2016

      Interview

The interview process started with an initial introductory phone interview with the recruiting manager. After, was an hour on-site interview where I met a senior recruiter and a recruiting manager. The final round interview was ~4 hours meeting with Flatiron employees that were in operations, engineering, and recruiting. Even met the CTO. The entire process took approximately a month, but I was fully informed the entire interview process. Interviews were scheduled timely and the candidate lead was fantastic to work with.
