Caveat: The process started with a series of interviews for Product Innovation Manager, which I was not selected for, but continued to a panel interview for a potential position under any one of the interviewers, who were all directors of various departments or their representatives. One was a VP.
Started with phone interview with HR, followed by phone interview with manager. Then in-person with manager, then 6 separate interviews with different people, each lasting an hour.
Everything went fine for the most part. Some managers asked very probing questions about experience, some more general.
In the end, after a week or so I got a call from the director of engineering offering me a position and he asked if I would accept. I called back the next day and did. He told me to be patient.
1 week passed, then 2, then 3...I emailed, heard nothing. After week 5 I emailed again, and finally on week 6 got a reply that made it sound almost like I had contacted him for the first time and he didn't know me. Similar to "I have no open positions at this time, but I encourage you to keep trying". I was surprised, as the company seemed good. The assignment sounded challenging and engaging. Perhaps budget dried up; perhaps an initiative I was being considered to support lost priority. Not sure what happened, but it's disappointing that they didn't move forward after such a promising position and lengthy set of interviews that seemed to indicate their interest.
