FoodTec Solutions Operations Director interview questions

I was contacted and completed a phone screening. 3 days later, I interviewed with a C-level consultant for the company who works closely with the owner/CEO. The result was that I would be moving to the next round and meet the CEO named Andrew for an in-person interview. It was to be conducted either later the same week or the following week. The consultant that I met said that he (the consultant) would be out of the country on vacation for the next two weeks but would make sure that the ball was in motion before he left. There was no additional follow up on their part. 4 days later, I followed up with the recruiter via email (cc:'d the C-suite consultant) because I was excited to move forward with the in-person meeting with Andrew. My email was very courteous, and I asked if there was anything I could to to assist, etc. There was no response to my communication. An additional 6 days later, I reached out to the recruiter via email (cc:'d the consultant) to follow up. I asked for an update, expressed my excitement to meet Andrew. Although I knew I hadn't missed anything, I apologized in case I may have overlooked something . Again, there was no response to my communication. 13 days later, I emailed the recruiter (cc:'d the C-suite consultant). I asked again if I'd overlooked a separate communication, and looked to schedule the meeting with Andrew. Finally, the next day, I received a fairly simple email from the recruiter stating: "Thanks for your interest in the Director of Operations position at FoodTec Solutions and for speaking with me and (C-suite consultant) over the phone. Unfortunately, the management team has decided to go a different way regarding this role. I am sorry for the disappointing news. Best of luck in your job search. " I can accept that they felt I was not the best fit for the role. However, it's extremely disappointing when the final meeting is supposed to be set and never actually happens. It could be that they decided to go a different route. It could be that the internal communication was so poor that others were scheduled and I never received the opportunity to let Andrew see what I great fit I'd be for the role. Regardless, the lack of communication and empathy during the process is reprehensible. I cannot speak to the quality of the company. They seem passionate, and they seem like they need some help to move through typical growing pains. However, their interview process needs to be overhauled if they want to hire right-fit talent.
