I applied in-person. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Foot Locker (New York, NY) in Aug 2012
Interview
Quick and simple. The managers name was Troy, he was friendly but a little cocky. I could tell he was expecting someone younger. He commented on the sneakers I was wearing also, asking if I had bought them at his store or footlocker.
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
He asked me if someone was buying sneakers what is one thing else I could easily get them to buy. He also asked if I shopped in footlocker and how my experience was.
The interview setting is a group interview. Everyone was dressed somewhat casually and in their favourite sneakers. We were interviewed by the store manager and an assistant manager in both English and French since it was in Quebec. The questions were relatively easy, and it was easy to get your personality out there in this kind of environment.

Question 1
If an item was out of stock, how would you handle that situation with a customer?
I applied online and got a phone call a week later to do the in person interview. In person I had to visit the store and ask for the manager that contacted me.
It was 10-15 minutes. Went pretty easy. They asked about me random questions and then told me about the job. The interviewer was nice and told me not to worry and that it is just general things.
