      Application

I applied online. The process took 5 weeks. I interviewed at Formlabs (Somerville, MA) in Sep 2018

      Interview

They’re completely transparent until you don’t matter to them, then they’re still “coming up with the next steps.” Or weeks later, it’s “XYZ was out, so we’re just waiting to speak with them in the coming millennia before making a decision.” Then, after all that patient waiting to hear how they "went with another candidate but let's stay in touch," the email job alert with their reposted position was apparently the only thing willing to tell me any real truth. It arrived a week before the call. My favorite part was the lead that stopped me three times mid-sentence to message someone on Slack. I also appreciated when he told me to “hold on” with his finger up at me while he scanned my resume for the first time in my interview. As he attempted to scrape banal questions off the floor, he crossed his arms around his chest and refused to initiate or engage in anything other than his keyboard. And when asked very mindfully, "What makes you and your team so successful?" Actual reply: “I just hire the best people—it’s as simple as that.” And then when asked very thoughtfully at the end, “Do you have any questions for me?” Actual reply: “Questions? You never even gave me a chance to ask you any…” Thanks for your insight, Tesla Jr. Consider this your karmic SEC violation. Points on that culture, though!

Hello - thank you for taking the time to reflect and write this review! We're sorry that you didn't have a great experience interviewing here, and our Services hiring team appreciates your detailed feedback about what led to your negative experience. Occasionally, our hiring processes evolve as we fine-tune our understanding of a specific applicant pool, and we understand that you sought more transparency during the process. Your feedback helps us focus to improve the process, and we have debriefed to address the concerns that you raise going forward. Thanks again for sharing your thoughts here. -- Caitlin, People Ops
