I was contacted by a recruiter about a senior engineering opening, after having applied for a different role. I had a screening call with the recruiter, and then a 1:1 call with the hiring manager. The hiring manager agreed I was a good fit for the role, and also recommended me for another role which he thought I was an even better fit for. The recruiter in question scheduled a followup call, but then ghosted me. I received no response to multiple emails asking to reschedule and for compensation information. After about 3 weeks, I received a vague email that company priorities had shifted and the role was closed, but with no clarity on which of the two roles this was about. No response to my followup questions after that.
