I applied through a recruiter. I interviewed at Fortune Brands Innovations
Interview
I was offered a Lead/Sr Analyst role by a recruiter that I didn't apply to after not getting a Lead Analyst role a month earlier. I was informed that if I wanted the role, it would go "straight to offer." I waited, didn't hear anything back. I followed up with the recruiter and was informed the role had changed to a Manager role and that I needed to meet with the CFO of the business unit and the SVP. Both interviews happened the next week back/back and went very well. I didn't hear anything for a few days, so I followed up again with the recruiter who told me the hiring manager wanted to speak with me. The call happened a few days later, and went very well. The hiring manager told me she just wanted to make sure I was still interested in the role because it had changed and that she would get HR working on the paperwork. A week went by without any updates from the recruiter. I sent a follow up email that went unreplied. So, I reached out directly to the hiring manager to thank her for the opportunity and reiterate my excitement at joining the team. Two days later, I received an email from the recruiter that the SVP had left the company and the new SVP wanted to meet with me, which was why she hadn't send me anything - update or offer. I met with the SVP the next day, and it went very well except for him telling me that people at his old company have been asking him about open roles at FBIN (he was in the role for 2 weeks when he interviewed me). He apologized for the delays in the process and told me I would hear something back in 1-2 weeks. At this point, we were over a month from the recruiter telling me I had the original Lead/Sr Analyst role and 2 weeks from the hiring manager telling me HR would begin the paperwork for me for the Manager role. 2 weeks went by, and I received an automated rejection letter that said "thank you for interviewing" not even applying - because I never applied for the role, I was contacted by FBIN for the role in the first place - and that they were going with another person (even though I was the only person being interviewed). I understand that a new SVP can interrupt a process, but after being told twice by FBIN that I had the role... and being made to wait and wait and having to more or less force information out of the recruiter, I don't understand how this is a Fortune 500 company's HR process. They went through a massive restructure that was finished in spring/summer, so that couldn't be used as an excuse. Dodged a bullet... I should have realized what was going on much sooner based on the recruiter's inaction.
