I applied through the Franklin Templeton job portal and received a call from the HR shortly after, followed by a test link. The test was conducted on HackerRank and included questions on Python, SQL, Snowflake, data modeling, and data warehousing. I was able to complete it confidently within 45 minutes. Soon after, I received a call from the HR team to schedule the interview. The interview was set for 45 minutes. However, the experience was quite disappointing from the start. The interviewer joined the call without introducing himself and kept his camera off throughout the session, giving the impression that he was disinterested or obligated to conduct the interview. I answered all the questions confidently within the first 20 minutes. However, it became clear that the interviewer lacked awareness of the modern data stack. He seemed unfamiliar with tools like dbt (Data Build Tool), and his questions were outdated and rigid. He appeared more interested in hearing rehearsed answers that matched his expectations rather than understanding real-world applications. To make things worse, after I answered his questions, he would go completely silent for 3–4 minutes at a time, creating an awkward and unprofessional atmosphere. Overall, it was a very disappointing experience and felt like a complete waste of time.
