I applied to the role in April. Within a week I received an email to set up an HR screening. I did the screening, I thought it went well, and I was invited to interview with the hiring manager (hm) and the hiring manager's manager (hmm). Everything was moving very quickly and they seemed to be urgently hiring for the role because I was asked if I could interview the very next day. Good sign, right? I did a ton of research, I learned about the careers of both of my interviewers (the hmm is a big deal in the industry), and I felt extremely prepared. Immediately, this was an awkward interview. The hmm didn't join and the hm seemed to have no interest in learning about me as a candidate. He talked about his work history and how laid back the department is. He said they hadn't hired anyone in years. He didn't ask me a single question. He seemed to have no intention of actually interviewing me. I had no opportunity to shine or share my skills. Obviously, I came prepared with questions, but not enough to fill 30-45 minutes. To top it off, I never even heard back from the recruiter or hm. Not even an auto-rejection email. My application just changed to inactive and I was never contacted. Overall, it was a pretty devastating experience and I'm not interesting in interviewing with this company ever again. Which really sucks because I agree with the mission.
