I was thrilled to interview for a creative role at Fundrise. After my first interview, the hiring manager requested as a next step a "design test" consisting of creating concepts for one of Fundrise's campaigns. After completing the exercise, weeks passed and despite checking in, I heard nothing. Months later, I am now being served Facebook and Instagram ads of my own design concepts – both visual design and copy – though was never notified of such usage. If you interview for a creative role at Fundrise, I highly recommend inquiring ahead of time about what your work will be used for should you not be hired and/or requiring that they sign a contract clearly stating such. As exciting as it is to see that Fundrise’s new social campaign has 1M views, I am disappointed to see that my concept work was used without my permission.
