Ghosted after five rounds. Initial call with HR, then a coding session, then three more rounds with hiring manager and other senior engineers. About 4-5 hours total time invested across four days. Did well enough I expected an offer. Instead I was ghosted, not even a "thank you for your time" e-mail.

Submitted application online and was contacted by a recruiter not long after. It was a standard interview process for the role: recruiter screen, hiring manager interview, then two short rounds of a virtual onsite which included coding, architecture, and behavioral questions. So far, so good. However, there was no follow-up from the recruiter for several weeks. I took the initiative to ask for an update from the recruiter who said that they unsuccessfully tried to get feedback from the hiring manager. Look, I get ghosting happens, especially at earlier stages but I was shocked to be ghosted for this senior of a level and at a late stage in the process. It's also a huge red flag that there was apparently little to no communication between the recruiter and hiring manager.
