      Claims Representative Interview

      Dec 4, 2019
      Anonymous Interview Candidate
      Lakeland, FL
      Declined offer
      Neutral experience
      Average interview

      Application

I applied online. I interviewed at GEICO (Lakeland, FL) in Nov 2019

      Interview

I applied online and received an email requesting a phone screening type preliminary interview. The phone interview went pretty well since they were accommodating with the location that they set for the interview. I lived in Florida at the time but the position for which I had applied was in Houston, Texas. They were able to let me complete the in-person interview/testing in Lakeland, FL instead of Houston, which was obviously closer to where I lived. I passed the simulated test since it's pretty much what I do in my current position. Then I did the actual interview and I thought I had done pretty well. However, having read about the Geico interview process for this position beforehand, I was disappointed to hear them tell me that they would be contacting me by phone/email with follow-up. They had told me they wanted to contact the Houston office and see if I was a viable candidate since they told me they didn't have the authority to hire me; the Houston office had to review the notes the interview made to my interview questions. I thought at first that this was just total bologna and that they would send me a rejection email within a few days, but I thought that it could be possible. A few days later they did follow up with me via a voicemail requesting that I do the role-play simulation part of the interview. I withdrew my application because I did not get a good vibe from the office; I didn't feel like the interviewer wanted to get to know me and that I was just number. I felt like I would be number if I were hired. The interviewer tried to call multiple times asking why I withdrew my application, but I never responded. I am grateful for having been able to practice my interview skills since shortly thereafter I received an offer for a similar position but with better pay.
