      Transaction Advisory Services Manager Interview

      Sep 11, 2020
      Anonymous Interview Candidate
      No offer
      Neutral experience
      Average interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 6 weeks. I interviewed at GHJ in Aug 2020

      Interview

I was matched with this position through the Mom project and recommended to apply. I had functioned as a TAS Manager in Big4 and regional consulting so it was a likely match. After applying I began networking through linkedin with their recruiting department who was extremely pleasant and professional. She told me the mom project would perform a screening call with me and if it was a good fit she would be in touch. I had that screening call 2 days later and it went extremely well. The internal recruiter then scheduled a call with me for secondary screening and discussed their process. She was an absolute delight. She also sent over a skills assessment for transaction advisory but it was more closely aligned with audit/cognitive reasoning assessment. I took the assessment immediately after receiving it and passed with a high enough score to move onto the next round. The next round of interviews was scheduled for over 2 weeks later. I did let the mom project recruiters know I was interviewing with several other firms and further along in the process. I thought it a little strange that a 2 hour interview via zoom couldn't be had sooner but went with it. I met with an audit partner who also works in TAS as well as a managing director from TAS. Again, they could not have been more pleasant. Really enjoyed the conversation with both and the audit partner actually cut our interview a little short because we covered everything so quickly, which he assured was a very good thing. We ended up talking about hometowns and outside work activities. The technical interview with the MD went well and while didn't go too in depth, did probe regarding deal sizes, industry, buyside or sellside, etc. Both walked me through next steps as possibly meeting one more person for a fit interview but overall, they got everything they needed. It took about 3 days for them to relay to the mom project recruiter that the feedback was very positive and they want me to connect with the department head. It then took another 3 days to have a zoom meeting with the partner/department head. Overall this went well, with him asking for a highlight reel of my resume but he did not go very in depth at all. He seemed a little rushed. He did let me know they had another interview scheduled for the next day but would get me an answer by end of that week, 25 days after my initial reach out and application, or the following Monday at the latest. I received feedback from the mom project recruiter that his feedback was positive after the call, and that I was their top candidate. We heard nothing from them that Friday or Monday. They notified my recruiter that interviews had been rescheduled to Wed that week and I would know later that day or the next regarding an answer. At this point I was sitting on offers from other firms. Wednesday came and went, then they let me know I would have an answer by Friday. Friday came and went and they asked for another week to think about it. Today, 40 days after initial contact, they let me know they are going with the other candidate. Luckily, I had several other options but be aware of the slow moving process here. I cannot stress enough how great the people that I met were during this process but am shocked by how long it took to get an answer out of them. Especially during Covid when people are scrambling for work in many instances. Which is the reason for the less than positive score.

Thank you for your feedback, and we truly appreciate it. We want to emphasize that this is not the typical candidate experience. A few of the members of the hiring team were out on PTO, and we wanted to respect their time off, which is a reason why the interviewing process took a little longer than usual. However, we hear your comments, and we will strive to provide an even better candidate experience. If you have additional comments or concerns, please feel free to email the HR Department at humanresources@greenhassonjanks.com.
