I applied through a recruiter. I interviewed at GIC in Jun 2026
Interview
My interview experience for the DevSecOps role at GIC was quite poor.
The interviewer sounded unprepared and the tone of the interview felt unnecessarily dismissive. Rather than creating a fair environment to assess my skills and experience, it felt like the interviewer had already decided to put me down or reject me early in the conversation, which felt rather odd.
The technical portion was also disappointing. The questions were mostly memory-based, such as asking which exact Terraform provider is used for GitLab, instead of focusing on stronger DevSecOps topics like system design, CI/CD architecture, cloud security, infrastructure-as-code practices, threat modelling, incident response, automation strategy, or real-world engineering trade-offs.
For a DevSecOps position, I expected a more mature and structured assessment, especially if the role requires senior-level experience. The interview did not feel like it properly evaluated practical engineering ability, security mindset, or architectural thinking.
Overall, this was not a positive candidate experience. The process would benefit from better interviewer preparation, more relevant technical questions, and a more respectful interview tone.
