I did not have an interview. They just send me an UI Simulation test which I had to complete within 2 - 3 hours and then send it back. In this way they could gauge my proficiency in Illustrator.
I received an email from HR a couple months after applying for the position through Jobvite to set up an initial phone interview. A video chat interview with the Art Director via gchat was schedule about a week later; the sound quality was poor through gchat so we ended up just conducting the interview on the phone instead. We discussed my interest in the video game industry, what kind of position I saw myself in 5 years down the road, the culture of the company, etc.
I received an email from HR the same day after my interview with the Art Director containing a prompt for an art test. I emailed my completed art test back to HR; they responded with an email saying that they would get back to me within a week with their decision.
A couple weeks had passed and I hadn't heard back. When I sent an email asking about the status of my application, I got an email back a few days later saying that they had decided to move forward with other candidates.
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
The art test asked for 8 full color rough concepts for a mobile game, to be completed in 2 hours.
I applied online. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at Game Closure (Mountain View, CA) in Apr 2013
Interview
First there was a phone interview, then there was a lengthy art test, then there was a second art test, and after being told my work looked amazing and to expect good news, I tried numerous times to contact them to no answer. Cold shoulder, no responses. I tried emailing them using their website, I tried finding their phone number online, I tried getting LinkedIn with their recruiter, I even directly Skyped them, and I knew he was online due to him signing on and off. I did not "bug them", I tried all this after a few weeks of no response. Apparently if you didn't get the job they just don't reply or tell you why or even that you didn't get the job.
