      Assistant Designer Interview

      Difficult interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 2 months. I interviewed at Gap Inc. (San Francisco, CA) in Aug 2018

      Interview

The interview process was the most drawn out and unprofessional experience I have ever had to endure. First, there was a phone interview and was assigned a design project with one week to complete. Next, I had to present the project to a panel of designers. I moved on to the next round where I had to do a revision of my design project and a couple of days time to complete. I then presented this project again to a panel. Next, I was told I would then interview again with another member of the team. The recruiter who had been very responsive setting up the first couple interviews started to tell me about when the next interview would be but then failed to communicate and confirm details. The fourth interview which was supposed to be scheduled was never confirmed and I had to keep emailing the recruiter to confirm myself. When it came to final decisions, the recruiter kept telling me a time that she would call and I would clear my plans for her call and she never called. This happened multiple times and then told me that the team had been going back and forth with their decision. She then finally called me 3 days later to tell me about my rejection. The entire process took over two months and the constant ghosting of the recruiter was unprofessional as well as telling me that the decision was because my designs did not align with their brand and for which I do not understand why I had not been rejected in the first round instead of dragged out for 2 months in this process.

      Interview questions [1]

      Question 1

Why Old Navy? What makes your designs align with the brand? How did you pull trends from the runway?
