      Senior Ebs Developer Interview

      Mar 1, 2019
      Anonymous Interview Candidate
      Pleasanton, CA
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Average interview

      Application

I applied online. I interviewed at Gap Inc. (Pleasanton, CA) in Feb 2019

      Interview

Interview process was as usual interview scheduled through GAP recruiter after connecting online. The interview was a 2 hour long zoom session with the hiring manager and 2 senior managers. Interview proceeded as expected with background description and work experience. There were hardly any technical questions asked during the interview. Just 1 simple sql query at the end. To get employees with max sal from each dept - no other reqs - no filtering etc. Used a subquery with join for getting the max sal for each dept. Either the interviewer does not really know enough sql to understand that there can be multiple ways of writing sql or the interview was started with a pre-disposition to reject. I felt that it was the later since another colleague of mine from a previous jab had the exact same experience. Interviewer picked up 1 object from the resume and asked for it to be described. Given that a person with over 10 years work ex will have worked on 100+ objects during the work period it seemed unreasonable that you would be expected to know every object you have listed on the resume, especially if it was worked on 5+ years back. I would like to state that if it was concept checking it could be done through technical questions. Or questioned on another similar object on the resume. But it felt that approach was not acceptable. I did try to describe a similar object on the resume from the same company which I remembered along with giving a workflow of the process that the object I had forgotten about could have implemented.

      Interview questions [1]

      Question 1

Recruiter interview on the first call which is unexpected. Simple sql query on the formal interview.
