I applied online. The process took 6 days. I interviewed at Gap (Orlando, FL) in Nov 2012
Interview
On a Tuesday I asked a Sales Associate at the Gap Outlet if they were hiring and she said they had a lot of spaces to fill so she told me to fill out an application online and not to leave anything blank and to upload a resume or else they wouldn't consider my application. I filled out the application that night and on Thursday they called me for an interview on Saturday morning. It turned out to be a one-on-one interview which made me feel more comfortable. The manager that interviewed me was so nice and easy to talk to. Since this is my first job, she tried to ask me more school related questions because of my inexperience in retail. She asked: tell me about yourself/how do you handle completing projects/ how did you handle a difficult teacher/what was your worst subject. The interview was about 15 minutes long and she said I would get a call by Thursday and if I didn't hear from them, then I would have to call on Friday. On Monday night I got a call that I got the job! Fastest process ever.

2)If I were a customer, how would you get me to sign up for a Gap Card?
Group interview with other candidates with the store manager. Arrive at the store and wait for other candidates. Then interview happens in break room and it lasted roughly about 30-60minutes
It was a group interview of about 10-12 people. If I remember correctly they take you to the back, the stock room, and ask almost everyone the same question. The interview lasted about 30 minutes.
It was very easy, one in person interview with the general manager and then I was accepted! Mainly personality and behavioral questions were asked, and I think enthusiasm on my end helped the most.
