      Business Development Executive Interview

      Nov 4, 2020
      Anonymous Interview Candidate
      New York, NY
      Declined offer
      Negative experience
      Difficult interview

      Application

I applied through a recruiter. I interviewed at Gartner (New York, NY) in Oct 2020

      Interview

The interview process was mostly positive until the offer did not meet expectations. The recruiter was highly responsive and incredibly transparent in their processes. Gartner does a great job preparing you for each next stage and is clear and prompt in following up. After 11 calls, four interviews, two role plays and one skills assessment, Gartner was not able to secure the compensation that the recruiter had told me to expect in one of our very first calls. As an organization that seemingly prides themselves in their transparency and the high standards that they hold themselves to, I was completely mislead despite multiple compensation conversations I tried to have during the interview process. I would have not wasted so much time to interview, prepare and follow up, had Gartner been transparent about what they were going to be able to offer from the beginning. Perhaps most frustrating of all is that the stated reason for the $17,000 delta in what I had been told versus what I had been offered is based on my zip code, because I live just across the Hudson River from NYC instead of in the city, itself.

      No offer
      Negative experience

      Application

I applied through other source. I interviewed at Gartner (Barcelona) in Mar 2026

      Interview

I was contacted by a Gartner GBS recruiter via LinkedIn. We scheduled a screening call where the role was mainly pitched to me and I was asked basic questions about my current responsibilities in relation to the job description. I was told I would move to the next stage, but I never received the calendar invite by email. When I joined the meeting, I was informed the interview could not take place because I had not accepted the invite. After checking, we discovered the invite had been sent to the wrong email address. We rescheduled. Before the next interview, I received a document with detailed instructions on how to answer (STAR format). The recruiter also emphasized how important feedback is, in both directions. I did not progress after the second interview. I requested feedback to understand the gaps, but the recruiter never responded. Summary: Clear role overview, but basic coordination errors and a lack of follow-up feedback despite stating it was a priority.
