      Negative experience
      Difficult interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at Gartner (Ban Phone Savang)

      Interview

The interview process seemed to be structured fairly normally at first. I applied in October, received an email in late January requesting an initial interview. The first interview was more informational and light. The recruiter engaged in some small talk, asked me what I knew about the company and the role, and asked me a few things about myself and my experience. It lasted about 30 minutes, and I was told that I would be moving on to an hour-long BBI (Behavioral Based Interview) using the STAR method. It was suggested that I do some research on what that entailed, which I did. This is where things changed significantly. BBI’s are used to see how a candidate could react in pressured, client facing scenarios. The recruiter interrupted me on a few occasions, asked me to repeat myself, and told me I was “rambling”. At the conclusion of the BBI, the recruiter reserved some time to give me feedback, and for me to ask questions. The feedback was valid in some ways, but it was made clear that they did not think I would succeed in the role, and they were not shy about letting me know. I continued to ask some questions, which were met with some unprofessional and condescending responses. The job description (as it read on the official application from Gartner) explained explicitly that it was a program with rotations specifically designed for early career growth. I asked what the rotations consisted of and how long the program lasted. The recruiter told me that there were no such thing as rotations, and asked me “is that information that I gave you?”, paused, and then said “This is a job, I don’t know where you’re getting that from”. I had read my question directly off of the job description. At this point I pretty much knew I was out of the running, but was kind of shocked at the lack of professionalism from a company this large and with such an established reputation. The role that was explained to me by the interviewer was wildly different than what was on the job posting. The difference between the first and second interview was drastic, even though it was the same interviewer. Needless to say, I don’t think I’ll be wishing to interview here again.

      Services Leadership Program Interview

      Anonymous Interview Candidate
      Dallas, TX
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Difficult interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at Gartner (Dallas, TX) in Dec 2021

      Interview

The interview process started well, but after the first round, it quickly went downhill. The assessment process began w/ a first-round, hour-long phone interview with the initial recruiter to gauge aptitude and fit through a series of Yes/No and Behavioral Based Interview Questions. (Exp: Which office is your top choice, etc.) Unlike some of the processes I've been involved in, I appreciate that feedback is provided on the call, so you'll know whether or not you've advanced to the next round immediately. Eventually, I made it to the final round (3rd ) interview with less than 24 hours notice from the recruiting team, which I found to be unprofessional given that it took over a week to hear back after I provided availability. Once I got to the interview, the hiring manager was extremely rude and condescending and belittled me after responding to specific questions. Unfortunately, this was just one red flag out of the many that came up during my interview process, including recruiters not responding to emails, etc. It's been about a month since my interview, and I still haven't heard back. Overall, I've lost a lot of respect for Gartner.
