I was recommended by a Gartner employee to apply who was a previous colleague. There were multiple initial interviews: Interview with HR rep that managed internal customer recommendations. This went well, but I still had to apply to each position and if that HR person or computer screening of my resume decided that I could be a good fit, they would contact me. I was hoping this HR rep would act more proactive on my behalf to allow me to make it to a conversation stage for a role, but many of the roles I applied did not result in a call back or any feedback. However, I was persistent as my past colleague has talked very glowingly of working for Gartner. Once I finally heard from one of my applications, this was another 2 stage interview process with the HR contact for that role: 1. Prescreen Interview 2. In depth Interview After the full interview I was told that my only limiting factor was not coming from industry, but my contact was going to recommend me to move forward. Considering my past colleague came from my industry and has done well I was hoping this would not disqualify me. Unfortunately it did due to their remote only training at this time. My HR contact then recommended that I take a role at another company for a year to gain additional industry specific experience to help overcome their now restricted onboard training. At this point in my career, I am not looking to job hop. While I had successful interviews and recommendations by 2 Garner HR reps and an internal employee promoting me from within, I have not been able to get past the application phase for the other sales roles I applied at Gartner.
