I applied through a recruiter. I interviewed at Gartner (Cincinnati, OH)
Interview
I didn’t get through the entire process. I had a recruiter screening, then a second, more in-depth interview that was an hour with the same recruiter. At the end of this interview the recruiter said she would love to move me onto an interview with the hiring manager, which I was very excited about. She asked me to submit an application online so she could get something scheduled, which I did, and emailed her for confirmation of my application. She confirmed receipt of my application, however I never heard from her again…..I was bewildered. She had been so excited to schedule me with the hiring manager and suddenly, ghosted? The kicker was that I proceeded to email this recruiter roughly once per week for tbe next 5 weeks (all very professional, polite emails basically stating the same thing in different ways: “last time we spoke you were looking to schedule me with the hiring manager- is this still the case or has something changed?” Absolute crickets. I even confirmed that this recruiter still worked for Gartner through people currently employed at the company- as I thought perhaps that was the reason for the zero responses to my 5 email inquiries over the course of one month. To this day I have never received a single response from this individual. Surprisingly, this person has the title “Senior” in their title. I would not expect the type of unprofessional behavior from any recruiter, let alone a Senior recruiter- and from Gartner nonetheless. After this negative interview experience and being ghosted without explanation, I decided if this type of candidate experience is indicative of how actual employees are treated- I think I’m a hard pass anyways.
P.S. I would also like to mention that I have a disability and checked the applicable boxes as such when I applied online. I can only hope that did not have a role in how this process played out. This happened awhile ago and it has affected me enough to write a review about my experience months later. To sum it up: Please do better.
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
The second interview that was one hour long were behavioral based questions using the STAR method. Def come prepared.
Avoid this interview process at all costs. It felt like nothing more than a data gathering exercise rather than a genuine hiring effort. Every single round was conducted by a recruiter — I never spoke with an actual hiring manager or team member. A complete waste of time and effort. I would not recommend applying.
Interview Process is your usual 4 step interview process : with HR / Hiring Manager / Discovery call / VP call.
You want to ask for feedback at the end of all interview and apply them.
