      Account Executive Interview

      Aug 25, 2025
      Anonymous Interview Candidate
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Easy interview

      Application

I applied through a recruiter. The process took 3 days. I interviewed at Gartner in Aug 2025

      Interview

I used to hold Gartner in very high regard. Unfortunately, after my recent interview experience, I no longer see them the same way and would not engage in their interview process again. I was approached by an Associate Talent Sourcer, for a 30-minute screening call. At this stage in my career, I am doing well and sought after for my skills. This was simply just to explore options. The experience, however, was disappointing: • She arrived 8 minutes late. • She had clearly not reviewed my resume or background beforehand. • The conversation was one-sided, focused more on pitching Gartner than understanding my experience or aspirations. Despite this, she stated that my profile aligned perfectly with what they were looking for in their GTS domain. We agreed on clear next steps: • A follow-up call (since time ran out). • She would share details on Gartner’s compensation structure. • I would proceed further in the interview process. The very next day, I sent her a thank-you email and expressed that I looked forward to continuing the process. I received an out-of-office auto-reply (she was on vacation for a week). One day later, I got a scheduled, generic email rejection - stating that Gartner would not proceed. I am not disappointed about the rejection itself—I work in sales, I understand how to handle “no.” What I find troubling is the lack of professionalism, broken commitments, and the clear impression that this was more about meeting a recruiter quota than creating a genuine career opportunity. Was there ever a genuine career opportunity? I don’t think so, and for a company that positions itself as a global authority on best practices, this was a very poor reflection of the company.

      Interview

Avoid this interview process at all costs. It felt like nothing more than a data gathering exercise rather than a genuine hiring effort. Every single round was conducted by a recruiter — I never spoke with an actual hiring manager or team member. A complete waste of time and effort. I would not recommend applying.

      Interview

It was okay. Two interviews, phone call and zoom. Zoom was a bit weird all very feedback approached. Had to do a role play of a cold call, which I do everyday to someone who has no cold calling experience so not sure that’s the best judge
