One of the most arduous processes I've ever experienced. I applied online in May and got notice to sign an NDA on May 23. No recruiter screen, but the hiring manager screened me. A significant amount of stress about filling this role and finding an expert was communicated. Sounded like a major role. It took over a week to get any feedback to the two recruiters on this role, and then an additional week and a half to connect with one of them to talk about the administrative details like location and pay. The recruiter actually missed the first time that they suggested to connect themselves, they never followed up with me. So once we connected on the second attempt, I learned it was low pay and unclear expectations for traveling to their HQ, which is way out of the way in a suburban town outside of a city. The recruiter talked about a compensation structure that has been dissolved (some type of royalties) and said that there was no current bonus structure yet identified that bonuses happen twice a year. It was all very confusing. Frankly, I was shocked at how much of big deal this role was talked about and just how little the salary was going to be. It was, at least, 35% lower than other roles I was interviewing for. The recruiter laid out how the process would work. I'd have a 3 person panel interview, then another panel interview with 4 more people. Then an assessment of some type. Then, finally, you guessed it, another panel interview with four senior leaders. In order to interview for this job you'd have to meet with a total of thirteen different people (including the two recruiters). We tentatively scheduled the first panel interview. It took about three days to get a confirmation of this interview. And by the day of I was just as unenthusiastic as they were and decided to pull out of their interview process. I expected a lot more energy from a game studio.
