Gemini Senior Front End Engineer interview questions

The interview process started off well. I applied online and was contacted by one of their recruiters in the NY office. She quickly lined up a phone interview for me that week and it all went smoothly. The next step was a "take-home" assignment which was fairly straightforward. They created a fictitious "Jobcoin" API which simulates transactions between wallets. The assignment was to make a simple dashboard for tracking the wallet balances over time. This included making a standard login view, followed by routes for each wallet/account for viewing dashboards. This part of the interview process went well, I was able to complete everything in a couple hours and show off the work on GitHub. After promptly submitting the assignment, I did not hear anything back for over three weeks. Finally, when I received an email from the recruiter, she explained the next steps in the process and asked if I wanted to proceed with a four hour long video interview (with a manager, additional engineers and design). At this point in the process, things were a little scattered and the interview was relatively unprofessional. They did not seem to ask thoughtful questions and I ended up having to carry some of the conversations. I do not think they were competent enough to evaluate a given candidate's technical skills. Ultimately I ended up declining and taking another job. I suppose I had higher expectations given that they are a highly regulated exchange.
