I applied online. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at Gensler (San Francisco, CA) in Jan 2017
Interview
I applied via the website and was offered an interview about a month later since I applied. I interviewed at the San Francisco headquarter office. The recruiters were very helpful. I had an online technical difficulty regarding my application not submitted properly, they promptly emailed me back and guided me through the application process. I was offered an interview a week after.
I had 2 interviewers and it went really well. Both interviewers were mindful to my time, and fair through the entire interview. Other than the typical interview questions, they took the time to describe the company's structure and work culture. The interview was kept casual, yet insightful.
After the interview, the recruiter emailed back and let me know that the interview went well with both interviewers, it's just taking a little more than a week to be processed. I thought this was nice of the recruiter to keep me updated.

Specific questions regarding my portfolio.
Your interview for the Job Captain position at Gensler likely focused on showcasing your leadership and organizational skills, as well as your ability to work collaboratively within a team. Gensler, being a global architecture and design firm, would have been interested in your experience managing design teams, your understanding of the architectural process, and how you ensure project success from concept to completion. They may have also asked about your technical knowledge, communication skills, and how you handle client relationships, as these are crucial for a Job Captain role. What was the experience like for you
The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Gensler (New York, NY) in Oct 2024
Interview
typical one hour interview, asking to present portfolio. nothing different. easy. Asked when I am available - offer a week later. Onboarding and HR were super helpful and to the point - very efficient.
Application screening took forever. Interviews were performed multiple times and studios that were interested in finding out about the applicants were sometimes not in one meeting. Nothing special as an architectural firm interviews.
