The interview was on skype. Generally going through some key traits they found important based on the CV/Resume. Since it is a fellowship position, there are multiple professors involved and there were discussions about collaborations.

How many years of experience that you had using Remote sensing and GIS tools? Which tool you prefer?
I applied through an employee referral. The process took 6 months. I interviewed at George Washington University (Washington, DC) in Dec 2013
Interview
Basically they look at your publications and ask you questions about your past research and current research. They are interested on knowing the overlap with their research, so there can be a good collaboration and work flow. It is important the english proficiency . Overall, they look for someone that has a good publication record, good communications skill and there are chances of a good collaboration project.
