I had a quick phone call with the division chief, who asked me a couple questions about my background but mostly wanted to schedule my main interview and told me they do a very quick interview process at GTRI. The next week, I gave a talk on my research background and they asked me "get to know you" questions. I was surprised that they wanted me to explain my research plan in detail, when I had applied for an engineering-focused position rather than a research scientist position. A couple weeks later, I told them I had another offer, and they said they couldn't get back to me before the deadline for my other offer.
