I recently established a connection via email after multiple follow-ups. After several attempts to reach out, I finally received a response, which allowed me to engage in further discussion through email communication.
I applied online. I interviewed at Ghafari Associates (New York, NY) in Jun 2021
Interview
HR conducted the interview, it was long, about 45 minutes. She viewed my LinkedIn profile 3 minutes before the phone call, so she seemed unprepared and without my resume in front of her. I was asked what my skill level is of 20+ different softwares on a scale of 1-10.... That really has no merit, but I just went with it. Certain questions seemed inappropriate that were asked, one example was "how do we know if we make you an offer that you won't go to your current company and try to get a better offer." Uncomfortable question, and the likelihood of an applicant doing that is just as likely as Ghafari rescinding an offer.
While we appreciate all feedback, this review contains several inaccuracies related to our interview process. Our HR team members are very diligent about interview preparation – they will not conduct an interview without having first reviewed the candidate’s resume thoroughly nor will they meet with a candidate without their resume in front of them. While it is important for us to understand a candidate’s software skills – particularly for architectural and engineering positions – our HR representatives will not ask about 20+ software programs in a single interview. Finally, our HR team will not ask a candidate what they would do if they received a counteroffer from their current employer.
