I applied online. The process took 1 week. I interviewed at Giant Eagle (Pittsburgh, PA) in Jun 2011
Interview
I applied online. Approximately one week later I was contacted by a hiring manager over the phone, who conducted a brief interview, notified me of the pay rate, average hours, working conditions, and arranged a time for an in-person interview a week later. The in-person interview consisted of two one-on-one interviews, one with the hiring manager, and one with the stocking manager. This was a very relaxed interview, and everyone was very nice. One week later I was offered employment over the phone, and accepted. One note, while it's standard practice to arrive 10-15 minutes early, I would suggest arriving earlier because you will have to check in at the customer service desk which is always very busy.

I applied online. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Giant Eagle (Hartville, OH)
Interview
Hiring process went fairly quickly between initial application and being hired. Interview was personable in a quiet office, typical questions were asked. (such as naming a weakness, naming a time I overcame a stressful situation, what to do if a customer were being rude to me, etc...). After the whole interview process I was asked if I'd like to come back in the next day to preform a (saliva) drug test and if I were to do well on the test, I would get hired. I passed and was hired. I started roughly 2 weeks later.

Interview
Sat down at Starbucks located within Giant Eagle. The manager of Giant Eagle sat down and introduced himself. Very relaxed conversation, didn't feel like an interview. Only asked 3 questions and I don't think he read my resume.
