Interview
I applied online, and shortly after was contacted by the hiring manager for a 30 min phone screen. The phone screen involved a description of the position, a few questions about my past relevant work, and a couple of behavioral questions.
On the on-site interview, I started with a 45 min presentation of my previous work to a panel of interviewers, and then had hour-long 1-on-1's for the rest of the day. Everyone I spoke to was incredibly enthusiastic about their work and about Ginkgo's mission, and were also very courteous and friendly. The work that they wanted the candidate to do was incredibly interesting, and I only declined the offer because the compensation wasn't competitive.

A couple of phone screens, then a "virtual onsite" (due to COVID) which included a tour of the labs, a technical interview, and behavioral interviews with several team members. The technical interview consisted of a series of take-home questions that you were instructed to put into presentation format.

The interview process was seamless, and the employees seemed genuinely enthusiastic about their jobs. I also had to give a 30-45 min presentation about my background, and they bought my lunch.

This was a phone interview. A phone screen interview. Basic questions on my background. A whole lot of info given to me by the company. One interviewer only. Was more of a conversation than a grilling.
