      Application

I applied online. I interviewed at Girl Scouts USA in Oct 2022

      Interview

Recruiter sent email requesting availability for dates that did not line up with the current year calendar (Tuesday, 10/18 - Friday, 10/14). When I sent an email to clarify the dates, she doubled down with the same dates, no acknowledgment of her error: “This would for the week of Tuesday, Oct 18th - Friday, Oct 14th.” Okay. I didn’t know that the 14th came after the 18th… Then, on the date of the confirmed interview, she was late joining and I emailed her at 10:03am to confirm that we were still on. When she finally logged on, she had a smile on her face, but her demeanor and tone were that of someone who was annoyed, and I already regretted agreeing to the interview. From there, my nerves kicked in and I gave long-winded answers - I bombed. I knew minutes after it started that this was already a foregone conclusion. And this was underscored by her comments at the end of the interview - that the hiring managers are VERY picky, that they will take a while to choose the BEST CANDIDATE and that they are just getting started with interviews. Essentially, HR speak for “you suck and there’s no way I’m passing you on to the hiring manager.” So, I’m not bummed about bombing the interview because it’s always good to practice, but I thought GSA should know that the people they’re using to recruit candidates could use some improvement on the way they communicate with and treat their candidates.
